Q What can I do to decrease risk to myself and my community? 

  • The best offense is a good defense.
  • Refuse to be paralyzed by fear as we have the power to make wise choices.
  • Nutritional deficiencies are the #1 problem to address when people are ill or get a viral infection. It can make the difference between not noticing you were/are infected and spending days or weeks sick in bed or hospitalized.

  • France just recommended not to take NSAIDS (Aleve, Ibuprofen etc.). Tylenol is ok.
  • Some good news: the following  practices can decrease the chance for you to have any serious health issues related to any virus, including the Coronavirus-19.
 1. Lifestyle choices: the foundation of all health.   Accumulate life affirming nutrients rather than just calories. It's a daily choice. Change can be uncomfortable. But consider how challenging, uncomfortable and agonizing it will be if you, your loved one or your child gets sick from suboptimal nourishment and lifestyle choices.
  • Eat a colorful plate loaded with fruits and veggies to get a variety of antioxidants.
  • Eat unprocessed vegetables and whole fruit, seeds, nuts, eggs, fish, a little meat, whole non gluten grains.
  • Wash all produce once you are home:  IE with I tsp soap and or 1T chlorox in a full sink.  Rinse well . You can also use the 'low Ph water from your alkaline water unit if you have one. 
  • Load up on food and spices with antiviral and immune supportive properties, including raw garlic, coconut oil, oregano, ginger, kimchi, fermented foods, walnut, pomegranate, green tea, apple cider vinegar, and mushrooms (shiitake, reishi, cordyceps, and turkeytail).
  • Stay well hydrated- water, coconut water, herbal teas, and bone broth.
  • Use hand sanitizers (60% alcohol),rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, silver gels…
  • Gloves can be useful to put a barrier between you and public surfaces

  • Ensure you get adequate sleep. Increasing sleep can increase white blood cell production, and loss of sleep, even just a few hours per night, can increase inflammation in the body and decrease immune response.
  • Get fresh air and moderate exercise daily. Moderate exercise can boost the production of macrophages, an important white blood cell/immune cell that assist with breakdown of bacteria and viruses.
  • Do Nasal irrigation with a Neti pot or xylitol nasal spray 1-2x daily. Viruses like influenza try to invade and multiply in the nasal passages for at least 1-2 days before you develop any symptoms. Nasal irrigation may wash away viral particles before they can take hold. 
  • Minimize alcohol and recreational drugs to protect the liver cleansing processes.
  • Minimal to no sugar drinks or snack as viruses and cancer cells LOVE sugar. 
  • Gatorade, power drinks, soda pop, tortilla chips, gummy bears, goldfish and sugar laden cereals, cookies, donuts and fast food etc puts everyone at a significant nutrient deficiency. Avoid man made foods, modern grains, partially hydrogenated fats, colors and dyes, high fructose corn syrup.
  • Avoid smoking anything.  Minimal and rec drugs.
  • Practice kindness to yourself and others. Find gratefulness in little things. 
  • Stay positive.

COVID-19 Virus Information to Understand and Share

The novel (new) coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) has surprised the world by spreading through our Global Village within weeks. This is a rapidly evolving situation and CDC is providing updated information and guidance.  There is a wealth of information at their site.  


 Be educated, be prepared, be safe, be compassionate.

  • To the left is a chart of who is considered at  greatest risk. 
  • The elderly, the immune compromised, those with chronic illness (uncontrolled diabetes…) those living in crowded places.
  • The more times we travel around the sun (age), the more chronic illness we acquire and the more our immune systems are challenged. 
  • All ages can be infected.
  Q Why is this virus different and why does it spread so fast?
  • The COVID-19 virus has a long incubation period with no symptoms (?4-24? days).

  • It is called STEALTH transmission. It lies 'below the radar.' in 85% of people.

  • More contagious that the flu. Slow the exchange of the virus: you slow the rate of spread. 5% need ventilators as of 03-2020.
  • It is thought that the virus can remain on surfaces for up to 9 days.
  • It enters the body through the eyes, nose, month and respiratory system.
  • Less than 1% who are infected have no symptoms at all and 80-85% of people have mild or moderate symptoms so are unaware that they are spreading the virus.
  • More contagious than the flu. Slow the exchange of virus. Slow the rate of spread.
  • Even mild to moderate symptoms can get worse and you can 'crash' at week 2.
  • "Mild to Moderate' illness can last 2 weeks. Severe cases can last 3-6 weeks.
  • The main symptoms are fever, dry cough and shortness of breath.
  • There are no specific treatments yet for the new coronavirus COVID-19. 
  • The best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure to the virus.
  • Countries are working on efficient screening and ways to decrease risk for all.
